There are a many versions of this effect out on the magic market, and they range in price from $75 to $375. This Balloon to Rabbit box, which is distributed by Mak Magic, has the look of a "protective travelling cage" for your bunny. When I perform this effect for kids, I tell them that this is the cage my rabbit travels in, but he has escaped. After by-play about whether the rabbit is running around among the audience, I call attention to the holes on the side of the box, telling the kids that Mr. Frisky built a couple of secret escape hatches. I then use the balloon to plug up the holes.
In the effect, an empty cage box is shown. It is about 12 inches by 10 inches by 8 inches, so big enough to be seen from a large stage, (and comfortably hold a dwarf or medium sized rabbit). The box has a swivelling flap on each side that swings to reveal a large hole. A long balloon is inflated and stuck through the holes, going in one side of the box and out the other, further emphasizing that the box must be empty. But when the magician wants, the balloon pops and a rabbit appears inside the box, clearly visible through the cage front, and filling the box.
Self-contained, and easy to do. The item is heavy, so shipping is not cheap, but the TMGS price is so low, that you still have a great deal even after having it delivered. Suggested retail on this item is $169, but pay much less here.
