This is a Cards Across effect, but done with Cars... well, with pictures of cars... and, okay, on... cards! But the effect does not feel like a card trick to your lay audiences, and (although I love card tricks!) it is always good to have some variety beyond the Bicycles.
You show 16 cards (playing card size) that each have a picture of a different make of automobile. All the cars are different. The Car cards are divided into two packets of eight cards each. Spectator is given one packet to hold, and then is asked to think of a card in the other packet. The magi says the magic word -- no sleight of hand needed for this one -- and the thought-of card has vanished from the packet. The spectator names her thought-of car, and when she looks through the packet she holds, the same car is now found in that packet!
An old card trick method, updated with specially printed Car cards.
