Astor Magic from Hungary puts out some really nice props and effects.   The methods are typically inventive, and the props are nicely designed, classy looking and made from  top quality materials.   So it is no mystery that Astor Magic items are not cheap.    In fact, I find the retail prices to be a bit too high for what you get, high quality though it is.   So you can imagine the big smile on my face when I was able to find a few of this excellent Astor item at a great price.  Rather than sell them for the suggested reatil price (which as I've said, I think is too high), I'll sell this item for what I think it should cost you.   If you buy it, you will appreciate the method, the quality of the props, and you will also feel like you got a good deal!

The effect is simple:  the mentalist shows five Jumbo (5" x 7") ESP symbol cards -- the standard Zener symbol set.  But the cards are printed on clear plexi (see picture), so there is no way they could be marked!     The mentalist now shows her (and the audience) a classy looking plexiglas "envelope" or sleeve.  The spectator can examine it and see that it is completely opaque on both sides.   The five plexi cards are given to a spectator who is told to mix them if she wishes, and the mentalist turns away so he can not see.  The spectator is instructed to choose any one of the symbol cards and to put it into the sleeve.  She can double check that the chosen symbol cannot be seen through the sleeve on either side.   After she hides the remaining four symbols, the mentalist turns back to her, and holds the sleeve to his forehead.  He immediately names the chosen symbol.

Good for stand up shows because the cards are jumbo sized, but can also be done close-up.

Unlike many effects, this one does gain some power by repeating it.   Which you can do immediately.      Or you can try this presentation which I have used to good effect:

Five spectators assist you.  After they have examined the cards and sleeve, turn away from them and have each spectator hide a symbol card behind his/her back.  The first spectator puts her symbol in the sleeve, and you identify it.

"That's a one in five chance.  To get another one right is only a one-in-four chance, but to get 1-in-4 and 1-in-5 is a 1-in-20 chance.  But I think I can do it."

Turn away, and have another spectator put his symbol into the sleeve.  Again, you divine the hidden symbol.

"That's a 1-in-20 chance that I would get them both.  If I can divine one of the remaining symbols, that's only 1-in-3, but along with getting 1-in-20, it would actually be a one in sixty chance that I get three in a row.  But for you, I'll do it!"

Repeat the effect with the remaining three spectators.

"And then there were two.  If I divine correctly this time, is only fifty-fifty, but combined with the previous one-in sixty chance, it is only one chance in 120 that I could get four correct in a row.   So even though it looks like this is getting easier, the pressure is actually mounting.  But let's try it."

One of the last two spectators puts his card into the sleeve, and you correctly divine it.    You turn to the last spectator and of course you name her card too.  "That one was easy!" which gets a laugh, and cues the applause.

I only have a ONE of these at this great price.  Don't miss it!    Brand new.
