Here is a very collectible (and very performable) item from the 1990's Magic Works Line-up that Milton Bradley put out in conjunction with Tenyo and Mark Seducatti. Many of these "toy" magic tricks were excellent, and this is one of the better items in terms of both effect and sneakiness of method. This one is complete with all props, instructions and box, so it is a a very nice example of one of the lesser-seen Magic Works items.
Here is the effect: Spectator writes something on a card and slides it into a small manilla envelope. The magi-mentalist secures the closed envelope under a rubber band that runs around a small board writing surface. The spectator can see that nothing tricky has occurred and the magi has no chance to see the envelope contents (or so it definitely seems!) But after suitable build-up, the magi writes the secret thought on the board.
No switch of cards or any tricky moves -- a neat use of one of magic's great methods makes this one a breeze, and super clean. Performers who eschew the use of "toy" magic props will find it fairly easy to re-create this prop using "ordinary" items from the stationary store.
Whether you want it for performing, or for your collection, get this one -- you will like it!
