I have always been a math geek, and a mathe-magician, so of course, the classic Magic Square has always intrigued me, and I do think it is one of the most impressive feats of "super mental power" that you can show to a lay audience.  If you do the Magic Square regularly in your performances, (and you perform regularly), then you probably memorize the necessary layout of numbers.  But even if you have the Magic Square memorized, sometimes your mind can go on vacation in the middle of your routine, and so having the layout penciled lightly on the board can help.

But in doing it closeup, you can't use that, since even light pencil marks can be seen.   And if you perform the Magic Square only occasionally, it is hard to rely on memory.    But Tenyo, the magical problem-solving company, has put together a great set of props that eliminates any memory, and also eliminates any lightly penciled cue numbers.  They have put together a set of props that allows you to do a close-up Magic Square without much practice or frequent performance.

They also added an extra prop which allows you to construct the Magic Square before the spectator names her number.  This greatly enhances the effect, which is this:

EFFECT:  Spectator looks at a piece of plastic printed with a bunch of random two-digit numbers.  She circles one with a dry-erase marker, and the plastic is set on the table with her circled number down and out of view (of course).  The magician now shows a 16 square grid, and begins filling in numbers.  he puts 16 different numbers in the grid, and then asks the spectator is any of his numbers match hers.  She says no.  Then he shows that every row, and column in the grid add up to her chosen  number.  The four corners also.  And the diagonals.  Etc etc etc.  The magician shows that just about any four cells in the grid add to her number!     Applause cue not needed -- it will be spontaneous!

If  you prefer, you do not need to use the extra "number selection" prop.  Just have someone call out a number from 35 to 99 and you can do it.  The gimmick that helps you avoid any memory work is kept in plain sight throughout the routine.

If you (like me) love the Magic Square, but have never felt comfortable performing it on only a periodic basis, this version from Tenyo allows you to pick it up after months, and still know exactly what to do!

Comes with package and instructions  in Japanese --  English instruction sheets are available on a free download    NOTE: deck of cards is not included or used in the effect -- just there so you can quickly get a sense of the size of the Magic Square props

Brand new and unused, sealed in original package
